Canal Fest Super Cruise Wed July 20th!

I'm taking a day off to get there early and help out!
Should be a great cruise!
6:00 - 10:00
13th Annual CAR CRUISE
from Main & Broad Sts. • TON - to Webster & Goundry Sts. • NT
All participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item
to benefit Ton. Salvation Army & NT Inter-Church Food Pantries
ALL CRUISERS MUST FIRST GO TO STAGING AREAS. NO ONE ALLOWED TO
PARK THEMSELVES ON STREETS

I will be there. Have been the last 3 years. i love it.. its
different and if you have kids,its great for them.. BTW.. some
nice fireworks on Sunday. :D

I just wanted to post a "thanx" to those who were at this
cruise. Sorry it's taken me so long - I'm just waking-up after
a long, hot, & humid week at Canal Fest!
This year was the most well-attended cruise in the 6 years that
I've been involved with it. The "official" count is 334; the
"unofficial" count is 350 -375. I know that there were cars
entering after all staging area vehicles were parked & the sites
were opened to latecomers.
I've received a number of positive comments re: the cruise, &
even more positive comments re: the unique dash plaques. All in
all, things seemed to go smoothly, with only a few minor
glitches. Suggestions for improvements are always welcomed, so
feel free to contact me with them.
Again, thanx.
P.S.) As elitecreationscc noted, the Canal Fest closing
fireworks show is nice. If you weren't able to enjoy it that
nite, there are usually YouTube videos posted.

I was reading in the paper that the canal fest committee butt
heads with city council over last years event losing money do to
the new hours imposed by the city council..... Will there be a
cruise this year?

I'm sure the event could be moved to another venue if needed.
I'm sure they could be welcomed with open arms to another town,
bringing in that many people.
One comment though. Are "fireworks" needed? They don't come
free, and they don't come cheap. Do they really add value to the
event?
