I had a similar algae problem when I had my tanks out in the living room. Every day they were exposed to indirect sunlight coming in through the kitchen window. In fact, during certain times of the year, they would get a little bit of direct sunlight in the evening hours as the Sun was going down. However, in recent months, I moved all of my tanks to my bedroom. Both of my windows are permanently covered by storm shutters -- we live in "typhoon alley" here -- and so the only light that the tanks get, is from the aquarium lights. While I currently have a problem with diatoms, green algae has been slow to take hold, and I suspect that part of the reason - aside from a low nitrate level -- is that I have more control over the light level and photo period. I'll let you know if the above still holds true after the tanks have had a chance to age more. :) Jeff Snyder, SysOp - Armageddon BBS Visit us at endtimeprophecy.org port 23 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Download Center 4 Mac BBS Software & Christian Files.
