Subj : JAM question (URGENT).. To : Barry Blackford From : Paul Quinn Date : Tue Nov 14 2000 12:59 pm Hi! Barry, On 12 Nov 00 23:21, Barry Blackford wrote to Paul Quinn: PQ>> How about SUBST-ing a DOS drive letter to your existing directory/JAM [ ...TRIM... ] BB> I think it would end badly, just a feeling, probably because it's too BB> easy, thanks Paul the pressure is off for that fix now. Mmm... I've been using SUBST-ed drives across the network here since June/July, for the few squish areas that I use. No probs so far, although this node doesn't see a lot of traffic. I did some further testing with the idea this arvo, creating a pseudo area on the 'host' drive (i.e. using the real path) and creating a downlink. But a rescan of the area to the new downlink failed, possibly for the same reason that Tommi Koivula had trouble with GEcho. Since I couldn't leave the setup to run with that config on the network, I had to delete everything, but, you might care to take some time with it. Maybe just before you're about to write that cheque for a shareware gating util. Cheers, Paul. --- BT-W32 2.60XEg6/BinkD-W32 0.9.4 * Origin: This line was selected randomly. Better luck next time.
