The BSD version runs also on Linux (like the many other OpenBSD programs). In
Debian there are 2 different netcat packages: netcat-traditional and
netcat-openbsd. netcat-traditional, which is installed by the netcat package,
does not support socks.

I'm used to ncat, because it also supports TLS.
