What service are you using? I have a USR 56k external hooked up to a Linksys
PAP2T that's using VOIP.MS.  I have about 5 or 6 modems, and I've found that
the faster ones with better error correction (v.92 in my case) do much better
than the slower ones.  I have my node 1 set up on the modem, but I haven't
really gotten around to testing it yet, mostly because I have too many other
things going on.
