Subj : Synology Bonding To : poindexter FORTRAN From : Tracker1 Date : Mon May 08 2023 12:14 am PF> I have a Synology DS1010+ in my homelab. I did some cleaning up this PF> week, re-routing cables here and there, dusting out old fans, cleaning PF> up unused cables, and so forth. PF> I set up bonding on my NAS, and have 2 gig ports showing up as a single PF> bonded pair. I was streaming video from the NAS while cleaning up, and I PF> was able to pull the second ethernet cable without affecting the stream. PF> When I pulled the first cable, playback stopped for about 30 seconds. PF> Odd. PF> My original plan was to have the NAS dual homed into two separate PF> switches in my office. One's in a router I use as an AP, the other is a PF> desktop switch. I have 2 ethernets running downstairs from my office to PF> my cable modem and had thought about building some redundancy between PF> the two, but I'm using the second ethernet for an office phone line now. Bonded mode only works correctly, from what I understand, with a managed switches set to bonded on the other side. So would maybe double check you're even getting the throughput you expect. -- Michael J.
