If I remember correctly you have to hang out in IRC and kiss somebody's ass get in? In this day and age I can't see people knockin down doors to get a shell account. Maybe you could suggest a better way? I don't see SDF going anywhere soon but a back up would be nice. Do they offer email with their shell accounts at tilde? I love my email at SDF. No BS. Just fast easy to use text alpine. > > > |12HusTler > --- SBBSecho 3.20-Win32 > * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power. (21:4/122) Tilde user here. I alternate between Usenet, BBS' thru NNTP (it's easier to read threads with a news reader), gopher, gemini and irc. It's very fun to use, and the pace it's calmer than all the cr*p on social media and ad bloated sites. BBS users which have lynx available could ask the sysop to install a gemini client; there are some "graphical" a la lynx and others like gplaces which are prompt based with menus and the interface it's closer to the ones in BBS', yet the content it's displayed with less from Unix, but it's the typical text reader, even the ones coming from DOS/Windows background will get the usage in the spot. On the philosophy, there's lots of overlap as most small communities are close to very few degrees of friendships/mets. .
