If your new server has hardware virtulation support, then one option could be
to pass the hd controller (ie: a LSI sata/sas card) through to a VM running
either trunas or nas4free... Then make a ZFS raid mirror from the drives...
It will give you more controll than a dedicate nas box ever will.
