I figure with an EV plan through PG&E I'm still saving money compared to what I paid in gas plus occasionally charging my Prius without a plan. And, now that we've gotten in the habit of running the washing machine and dishwasher off-peak, we're saving more that way, too. I got my car as a city car, for trips around town and occasional trips to Santa Cruz and San Jose. I'm tempted to try it on longer trips - almost took it to Donner Summit yesterday but chose against it. Paso Robles/Cambria is certainly in range - and I know of a couple of inns with charging stations. ....
