("coldest winter i ever spent ja> was a summer in San Francisco" some jerk once said...) I walk my dogs in the morning wearing flip flops[1] and a hoodie. People wonder how I'm not cold. Living 10 years a couple of blocks from the beach in San Francisco endeared me to cold, foggy weather. I could walk to the beach, hear the waves breaking from my living room and hear the Seals barking at Seal Rock. I lived, worked and went to school in the Fog Belt on the west side of the city, in the ironically named Sunset district. We had one summer where we didn't see the sun all year. You'd start to get depressed, then realize that if you drove a mile east, you'd get sunny weather. The next year, I remember being at Ocean Beach the day after Thanksgiving in a t-shirt. Not a cloud in the sky, and almost 70 degrees. Odd. [1] I think you folks in the southern hemisphere call them "thongs". ....
