Subj : 2023 > 2024 To : Avon From : apam Date : Sat Dec 30 2023 09:29 pm > I'm on holiday for a few days and have a few spare hours to do some bbsing :) My wife is in town shopping and I have Black Moonlight blaring from the sound system... it's a new Duran Duran track I like... > Sounds good, I don't know Duran Duran (I've heard of them, just don't know their music, though I'd probably recognize some tracks if I heard them) > I've started playing with Mystic to see if I can get it running as a QWK gateway but thus far no dice.. seems the FTP stuff is eluding me at present. I'll posts some updates to the Mystic echo to see if anyone else has played in this space. > Have you had any luck with this. I didn't know mystic supported acting as a QWK hub - I guess that's (relatively) new? > My parents health has remained a concern this year. My mum is declining and dementia maintains it's cruel hold on her quality of life. Visiting a few times a year is getting tougher as you never know when it's the last goodbye. That's rough. Dementia is nasty. > I bought an EV and have been enjoying driving it. I like the tech in it and did the first update on the car yesterday... the sound system now works even better to that's a win... > What sort did you get? My brother in law worked for Tesla for many years, but was recently made redundant (right on his 40th birthday) I'm not an Elon fan, but Tesla make pretty good cars. > As for bbsing... I plan to keep at the hobby and will try to dip in and out of the network a bit more often next year but it seems the intent can get offset by the day to day of life and demands of family... still... I'm not planning on going anywhere from this hobby.. it's a nice one in that you can pick it up and put it down and it still ticks along :) > Yep, that's a good thing with BBSing, it can keep humming along in the background when you don't have time or energy for it, and is there ready to go when you do. > A note of thanks for your involvement / usage of fsxNet in 2023, for your posts and chats in the echos... it's appreciated. > > Righto back to QWK tussles... all the best for 2024 if we don't catch up prior. Good luck with the QWK. It's a shame there's no separate software to just run a hub for it.. (like HPT or something) I guess you're stuck with running either synchronet or mystic - are there any others that support running a QWK hub? If you can't solve the mystic ftp issue, do you plan to spin up synchronet? Andrew --- Noddy git-2b8b935 * Origin: Smuggler's Cove - scove.talismanbbs.com:2323 (21:1/182) .
