But it's greek to someone else who didn't. But changing someone else's code is 90% of what developers do. It doesn't take too long for you to write good code when you get a chance to do the other 10% and write new stuff. Because you may be the person maintaining it in 5 years. There's nothing like the revelation that the horrible, uncommented, hard to read, hard to understand code that you are complaining about was written by you a few years ago. ....
