A few years ago I had to work on an old computer system that was controlled
by software running off of a floppy. There was never anything good enough or
better to replace this system with, so the entire opertation was dependant on
that software to someone had written God only knows how long ago.

I have dozens and dozens of USB drives, now. They seem to be the new floppy
disk, only they all have an absurd amount of storage space that I'll never
use.
