Some BBS software currently in development (like Talisman and I think WWIV?) still support it on the BBS side, and at least Talisman is open source. So is Magicka, and the source is still available. MultiMail reader supports the format on the user side. If someone wanted to, they could probably use sources like those and reverse engineer a new Blue Wave reader.
