That'd be ventriloquist. :)  Some further investigation lead me to some info.
I'm guessing we never saw it in Australia.. It first appeared ~1955 and
retired ~65 so its even more unlikely I'd have seen it, even I'm not that
old ;)  And the poor hounds name is apparently Farfel, named after some
Jewish pasta dish <boggle>.
