Subj : Some new-user Mystic questions To : All From : acn Date : Sun Nov 15 2020 01:49 pm Hi @all, I'm new to Mystic and am just setting up my new BBS. Thanks to the great videos by The Mystic Guy, it was fairly easy to set up the base system and connecting to fsxNet and FidoNet. In the late 90s I used to be a point at FidoNet using CrossPoint (on DOS and OS/2) but then the dark ages of Internet took me and I ignored BBSing for a while. The next part of my BBSing will be to draw some ANSI screens (using TheDraw in DosBox), get to know the menu system and editor of Mystic and fill up some file areas :) But I have two questions right now: 1. Is it possible to use an external editor, like GoldED, to read/write messages? While the BBS internal editor is nice, it is not as comfortable as I remember eg. CrossPoint in message handling. Does somebody use another editor and has it configured to use the Mystic messagebase? 2. I've heard (from my FidoNet uplink) that Mystic has some problems with MIS/BinkP crashing and using up 100% CPU when a BinkP connection is incoming - and some sysops switched to using an external BinkP daemon. Is this still a problem in recent versions of Mystic and something to worry about? Thank you very much! Have a nice day :) Regards, Anna --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A46 2020/08/26 (Raspberry Pi/32) * Origin: Imzadi Box (21:3/127) .
