yes and no, I could opt to make some echos mandatory and ask all HUBs to link nodes to them so that certain key messages do at least make it to nodes vs the hit and miss of will they/have they opted to sub the echomail area or not?

yes agreed, this can be the case if away for a week or a month or more.
