Make it so.  Personally I like the way I've been using it all these decades without the need/use of a .vim and it can easily be ported to any editor you care to use.

It works as you can clearly see and has been for ages now.  I have a version running on aarch64-unknown-linux-android (termux) and posted a msg to you here from there.

I believe you are correct and in the case of mplayer it claims to be able to handle gopher without the need for curl as it uses some ffmpeg lib in order to facillitate that accessibilty.  I have yet to try it though and will probably have to set up a gopher server first, probably on wireless.
