I am blaming kv-5 myself.  I did have legacy boot penguins on a few versions but overall kv-5 was a real haedache here for many, many, many reasons.

The archlinux people are good.  It doesn't surprise me that they got it working but uefi slackare live CDs also worked, or at least the uefi boot ones do.  However there were issues with framebuffer graphics off and on.  At the moment all seems fine with kv-6 kernels and graphics.

Same here.  Also znver2 processor.  I might build a custom LFS for it but from the moment it is more useful as a slackware64-15.0 test thingy.  Four penguins on there and it doesn't have any fidonet schtuffenptten on it ... yet.

The above is on the EuroPoint where I am replying to your fine and upstanding MSG as we speak.  It isn't a laptop but is close enough for this purpose and for sure is fidonet capable.

If you're attempting uefi make sure the directory /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/ exists and if it is empty then it needs to be mounted at bootup.  I added this entry to my /etc/fstab;

  efivarfs /sys/firmware/efi/efivars efivarfs nosuid,nodev,noexec 0 0

and there are four penguins on bootup.  :-)
