Subj : DSL upgrade To : All From : Digital Man Date : Mon Jan 13 2003 04:12 pm If you've noticed that Vertrauen gets non-responsive sometimes (to put it mildly), you're not alone. The problem is that the FTP servers usually have people downloading something (Synchronet and DOVE-Net packets are the most common) pretty much every minute of the day. So I ordered an upgrade of my DSL service from the 1.5MBs/128kbps service I have now to 1.5MBs/256kbps service (doubling the bandwidth from here to you). It won't take effect until next Monday (the 20th), just in time for a new Synchronet release (which always attracts a lot of FTP downloads, more than usual). If you're logging on here to play door games, use rob.synchro.net instead for best performance of DOS doors (e.g. LORD and BRE). Also, the most common Synchronet files are available for download off-site at ftp.synchro.net as well (that's a high-speed, non-DSL server). digital man .
