I did some (not BBS related) stuff with Growl some years ago; it was handy and easy enough. If it does what you need it to do, there's no need to roll your own. I can't remember if it (or its presumed successor, "Snarl") lets you add buttons to a notification; would be nice if you could trigger something that pulls the user into chat when the sysop accepts the page. FWIW I made a chat pager thing, but at present it's only really useful if you're normally on IRC. This is in Synchronet's CVS repository, at 'xtrn/chat_pager/'. Let your IRC client send you the notification; tell the IRC bot to answer the page, and it will pull the user into your channel via the BBS' IRC client. This has the benefit of letting you respond to a page from any device, rather than using the built-in sysop chat thing on the machine that's hosting the BBS. --- echicken electronic chicken bbs - bbs.electronicchicken.com - 416-273-7230 þ Synchronet þ electronic chicken bbs - bbs.electronicchicken.com .
