That entirely depends on what *Kind* of development you're doing as a developer; some of us don't use a whole lot of JS in our daily work. That said JS is reasonably quick to pick up for anyone who has dealt with similar languages, and I'm quite happy to have the available flexibility that it offers, but I think for someone just getting some customization started who isn't overly familiar that BAJA may be a little quicker to pick up.
