The drama of a bored geek, ep.2 The role-playing game I've mentioned a couple of days ago seems to have gathered only fake enthusiasms from my wife and her sister, and no enthusiasm at all from the two girls. This makes me a little sad, but overall not very surprised. Actually, I would have been more surprised on the contrary. I fell for the fake enthusiasm of the grown ups nonetheless, most likely because I wanted it so hard. Yesterday afternoon, me and my wife were talking, and one of our nieces was with us. For some reason the discussion ended on the Lemmings game (you know, the one with the crowd of little suicidal individuals you've got to bring to safety). Of course our niece didn't know what that is, so we gave her a little explanation. My wife suggested me to download the game, so that we can show it to our nieces. It is probably available for free these days, to be run on DosBox. Otherwise, it is possible to use a clone, such as Pingus. This time I was actually surprised not to see any enthusiasm in the girls. Come on! It is a video game, you don't even have to use your imagination! I am a bit disappointed. I blame the stupid shit the TV passes on for this. But hey, perhaps I'm just old and grumpy. Fuck it. I'll keep working on my project, Crossbow, (which, by the way, is almost ready for release). I'm looking forward to wrap this huge refactoring up. Back on the role-playing, it seems that this project is dead in the crib, I'll just dump the NPC stats I wrote here, so I can recycle the papers they're annotated on. Not that they're useful to anyone... It is just a way to let it go. Too bad I can't draw the map (...or I could in ASCII art? With a huge effort!) --- NPC Str. Dex. Wis. A brawl breaks out, and the first kind of adversaries are farmers. The idea was to have some tutorial here. (2) - The story goes that a war-lord is raiding the area, but then it turns out there are skeletal warriors at his service. A necromancer is involved, which in turn reports to the dark lord on duty.
