# Motivation for Ryumin's Dome

For a long time, I was looking for a service which would permit anybody to
save textual work in a git repo. All the big free services for git-hosting
of code can do that, but they are for code, not for text.

Then I got my own VPS and *bam* all was there.

Then I became more active with Gopher, and got the idea of a server
providing easy access to a gopherhole via git, for anybody to easily
publish texts without requiring shell access.

Then solderpunk started the circumlunar.space experiment, developed the
idea of a loosely linked network of servers under the "circumlunar franchise".

And so Ryumin's Dome is a server providing anybody git-accessible gopherholes.
The name of this server was solderpunk's idea.
