Subj : 6/5 Gingerbread Day - 1 To : All From : Dave Drum Date : Fri Jun 03 2022 13:45:15 MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Lady Webster's Gingerbread Categories: Cakes, Desserts, Dairy Yield: 9 Servings 8 oz Plain flour 8 oz Treacle +=OR=+ 4 oz Treacle +=AND=+ 4 oz Syrup 3 oz Brown sugar 1 c Whole milk 1 ts Mixed spice 4 oz Butter 1 lg Egg 1/2 ts Baking soda 2 tb Ground ginger Mix all dry ingredients together, melt butter and treacle in the milk. When dissolved and well mixed pour on to the beaten egg. Mix in the dry ingredients (and add 2 or 3 oz of candied peel if desired). Pour into well greased tin of 2 pound size. Bake in a moderate oven for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The mixture should be slack like a thick brown sauce (added Lady Riddell-Webster at W. R. I. show). Mrs B.
