Subj : T.O.H. Daily Recipe - 221 To : Dave Drum From : Ruth Haffly Date : Fri Oct 20 2023 22:15:50 Hi Dave, RH> kept outside whenever we were over. Good thing I brought an extra RH> albuterol inhaler with me; I will probably need it before we get home. Update--we get home tomorrow but I started the new inhaler yesterday. DD> My doctor tells me that the Albuterol is a "rescue" implement. I was DD> having a problem the other day even w/5 litres og oxygen from the DD> portable generator but the inhaler brought the numberd up 15 to 20 DD> points very quickly. RH> Yes, I call it my "American Express". Being around animals (especially RH> long haired) and significant amounts of dust will kick in the need for RH> help several times a day until I get away from the triggers. Then the RH> need will decrease, eventually getting to the point where I don't need RH> albuterol--until the next triggers. Trouble is, the lungs are so RH> scarred up that it doesn't take that much to set off an attack. DD> Just returned from a few days in hospital. Woke up in mid-air on the DD> way to the floor. Did the classic 9*1*1 "HELP! I've fallen and I can't DD> get up!" Not fun; I presume you had a phone handy or some sort of alert system. DD> Root cause for the fall was a collapsed lung - something new to me. DD> The pulmonologists have re-inflated the lung. Nor, just to keep it so. Sounds like a pneumothorax. I usually have an atalectasis where something (usually a broken rib) pushes the lung down from outside. About the only thing to do then is to wait it out; some days are more painful than others, same with breaths. Weather has turned cold and wet so I'm coughing (and grabbing the albuterol) more often. DD> Enjoy the rest of your trip .......... We will, home tomorrow. Nothing spectacular for meals but good reheated fajitas last night. They were originally made last Friday when the granddaughters were with us. DD> Title: Solar Eclipse Moonpie DD> Categories: Cookies, Chocolate, Dairy, Candies DD> Yield: 6 to 30 cookies RH> We're going to be in southern UT this week end, camping just about RH> under the path of totality. Will start heading east after the week end, RH> tentativly getting back home before the next week end. Update--we were in the totallity path so it was quite fascinating to watch the progress. Got outside before it started and every so often would look up at the sun (with the saftey glasses). Temps definatly cooled off as it progressed. Steve was able to link in with a group of ham operators in western US, I think Wyoming and Utah, plus other areas so gave them progress reports. After it was over we made lunch, then took the girls to meet up with their parents. Spent a quiet day in camp on Sunday, then hit the road on Monday. We stopped in Frankfort, KY for some Ale 8 Zero soda and Rebecca Ruth's chocolates, spending the night in a Cracker Barrel parking lot in Beckley, WVA. Home, with probably 3 loads of laundry tomorrow. --- Catch you later, Ruth rchaffly{at}earthlink{dot}net FIDO 1:396/45.28 .... Can I blame my spelling on jet lag? --- PPoint 3.01 * Origin: Sew!
