I've done a little Android development in the past (mostly just tutorials,
nothing practical), so maybe that's a posibility too. What's that about point
systems though?

Like a voice gateway to a BBS. Kind of like a voicemail system merged with BBS.
Dial in, and once authenticated, access a menu where you can have messages read
(text-to-speech). Probably not the most useful thing, but a potential learning
experience.
