Note that it says "cash checks" and not deposit them.  I have never needed
an ID to *deposit* a check into my own bank.  I have only needed an ID to
try to *cash* one somewhere other than my own bank.

That honestly doesn't happen too much anymore, for me anyway.

I *do* need an ID to set up a bank account, get a COVID vax, pass a
background check to get a job, and for several other things.
