Most likely, that pause prompt is *not* because of the write() call but rather because your script has stopped executing and the user is returning to a menu that is displaying a menu with a clear-screen sequence or you script has a clear-screen sequence in (e.g. console.clear()) or is displaying a file that has a clear-screen sequence in it.
