It may be based on Debian, but IMHO Debian is much more stable, especially when it comes time for a release upgrade. I run Debian, Devuan (a Debian variant), and Raspbian here. Used to run Ubuntu on one sbc because I thought I had to. Just like the other time I tried out ubuntu on another machine, when it came time for the next release upgrade, I followed the directions and wound up with an sbc that didn't work any more.
