I will now make one of my famous statements ... 20-25 years ago I ran projects for the UN in preparation for the Rio+10 conference in Johannesburg, the 10 year review of the 1992 UNCED United Nations Conference on Environment and Development from Rio. Here we had been flown to a super-luxury resort in Vail Colorado, money obviously is no problem for the UN, with several heads of government at prime-minister or even president level. The meeting was chaired by sir Crispin Tickell (Google him if you want) ... I think the most intelligent person I have met in my life ... He sat down and when he opened his mouth you knew you had to shut up because something was about to happen. Sir Crispin asked some 20 people there what were the most pressing environment problems of our times. And as expected, all these career politicians launched into speeches about whatever, even getting close to the dress-code of Brigitte Bardot (mind you, this was 25 years ago). When it was my turn, I said "I have list of 5" and everybody figured I was going to embark upon a list of stuff propagated by silly Greens ... Poverty Hunger Human Rights War Overpopulation And I told the gentlemen around as long as these 5 points (and probably others) were not addressed we would not be able to deal with Climate Change, Drinking Water, Refugees, Desertification ... Considering that more than 80% of the world's population suffers from one, several or all of the 5 mentioned points it is hard to believe that direct input into Climate Change solving measures will not be swamped by all the rest... The words of those career politicians sounded so hollow ... Eventually I went dining with Sir Crispin and we went hiking. He passed in 2022 .... \%/@rd --- DB4 - 20230201 * Origin: Many Glacier - Preserve / Protect / Conserve (2:292/854) .
