A man who was charged with excess blood alcohol levels after a fatal crash in
December last year has had his charges upgraded.


The crash, which occurred on December 16 on Gibbston Valley Highway near the
Crown Range turnoff left one person dead and a second person seriously
injured.

The man, 28, was initially charged in January with excess blood alcohol
causing death but police confirm his charges have been upgraded to
manslaughter.


He is currently on bail and is set to reappear in the Queenstown District
Court on March 11.
