Subj : Popularity of 'tooth gems' on the rise To : All From : News Person Date : Mon Mar 11 2024 01:21 pm Tooth gems are apparently rising in popularity, so much so that it's inspired one Christchurch woman to open her own business. Tooth gems are a type of jewellery bonded to the enamel of your tooth. Speaking to Breakfast this morning, Jennifer Williams said it's a rising trend overseas. She said it's a "niche market" to be trained in so she's hoping once it gains traction in New Zealand, she'll be well prepared. "There was definitely popularity personalising your teeth in the 90s so it's coming back. "I think a lot more people are open to expressing themselves. It's just like tattoos, in beginning you might feel judged but once you have them you love it." Asked about the safety and hygiene of it, Williams said: "I use dental grade products, it's quick and 100% painless. It's semi-permanent meaning the gem is just on top of the tooth." She added: "Tooth gems can last from a couple months to a couple years. "Longevity is up to skill, size and placement of crystals, after care and habit. If you're consistently eating crunchy sticky foods, that's not going to help." --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A44 2020/02/04 (Windows/64) * Origin: S.W.A.T.S BBS Telnet swatsbbs.ddns.net:2323 (63:10/102) .
