Subj : Murder charge following Christchurch stabbing To : All From : News Person Date : Mon Mar 11 2024 01:39 pm A man has been charged with murder after an alleged stabbing in Christchurch last night. Police were called to the Hereford Street property shortly after 10pm on Sunday following reports of a stabbing. The victim was a 22-year-old man who died "a short time later". Following the incident, police arrested a 67-year-old man - who has been charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear in the Christchurch District Court later this morning. City Missioner Corinne Haines told 1News she was first informed about the incident at around 10.30pm. Haines said the Foodbank, which is directly opposite where the incident unfolded, will still be open for those who currently have a time slot. "No one will be working on reception today and we'll also be taking no new foodbank orders," she said. Haines said the incident took place across the road from the Christchurch City Mission, at the men's shelter facility, which also houses a learning and development hub. "No staff who work in those facilities will be working today." Staff impacted by this include finance advisors, administrators, councillors, and social workers. Haines hopes to issue a statement later this morning. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A44 2020/02/04 (Windows/64) * Origin: S.W.A.T.S BBS Telnet swatsbbs.ddns.net:2323 (63:10/102) .
