Subj : Woman arrested over alleged theft of water tanker truck To : All From : News Person Date : Tue Mar 19 2024 01:11 pm A woman has been arrested in Whangarei following a "repeat" series of burglaries across the area, including the alleged theft of a water tanker truck. The 43-year-old was taken into custody at around 11.15am yesterday morning when police were called to a residential address in Kamo. "A female was seen heading towards the back of the property and was arrested by police a short time later on Gillingham Street without incident," Whangarei area commander Inspector Maria Nordstrom said. Nordstrom said the woman is believed to be involved in the alleged theft of a water tanker truck late last month. She said: "Police have been investigating a separate burglary at a building site on Wanaka Street on 26 February. "Our investigation team had been following a number of enquiries to locate the person involved and identified a person of interest earlier this month." The woman was arrested and charged. The truck was also recovered and returned to its owner. The woman has since appeared in the Whangarei District Court and will reappear on March 27. Further charges are being considered. "We know this sort of offending where people's property is targeted can be incredibly invasive for our community," Nordstrom said. "I would like to acknowledge residents who observed the concerning behaviour and called 111 straight away, meaning police could respond." --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A44 2020/02/04 (Windows/64) * Origin: S.W.A.T.S BBS Telnet swatsbbs.ddns.net:2323 (63:10/102) .
