A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle on State Highway 2 at
Matamau, north of Dannevirke.


Emergency services were called to the crash between Okane and Tataramoa roads
shortly after 3am.


"The man was unable to be revived and died at the scene," a police
spokesperson said.

The road has since reopened following its earlier closure while the serious
crash unit carried out investigations.
