Subj : Search continues for missing Raglan fisherman To : All From : News Date : Wed Apr 24 2024 12:57 pm Police are continuing their search for the missing fishermen who is believed to gave fallen from his boat near Raglan yesterday. Before his disappearance, the man made a call over maritime radio at about 10am, where he said he was having a medical event. He was fishing alone. A short time later, police said he activated his emergency locator beacon. Raglan Coast Gallagher Rescue Coastguard volunteers, and Westpac Rescue Helicopter were deployed. They located the boat empty and anchored approximately 8 nautical miles off the coast of Raglan. A police eagle helicopter and Coast Guard air patrol joined the search, and, despite extensive searching on the water and air, the man was yet to be located. Today, the police national dive squad was also joining the search. Police said their thoughts were "with the family during this difficult time".
