Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash on State Highway 5 near
Rotorua yesterday afternoon.


Emergency services were notified of the three-vehicle crash around 3.15pm on
Sunday, which closed a 17km stretch of SH5 between Tapapa Rd and Maraeroa Rd.


"Tragically, one person died at the scene and police urge anyone with
information to come forward and speak with us," a spokesperson said.

Two other people were taken to hospital with moderate to serious injuries.


Police were urging anyone with dashcam footage that either witnessed the
crash or drove through the area around the time to get in touch with police
on 105.
