One person is dead and a second person hospitalised after a four-vehicle
crash in Palmerston North last night.


Emergency services were alerted to the collision on SH3 Napier Rd at about
10pm.


"Sadly, one person died at the scene while the other was transported to
hospital in a stable condition," police said.


"The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit attended and since has
reopened.


"An investigation into the crash remains ongoing."
