If memory serves (I was a beta tester for Preslar), 4.06 was probably the last 
"stable" version. 4.07 introduced a bunch of spelling/grammar errors, and some 
new colors of text that didn't fit as well as the former version.

Then 4.08 was supposed to be an "ansified" version, or some such, but indeed 
was still very much in beta. When Gameport screwed over the developer at the 
time, he basically told everyone what they did to him (I think it had something 
to do with stripping him of any of his rights, and failing to pay him what they 
owed him), and soon after left the BBS realm for good.

I'm sure 4.08 was leaked some time around then. :)

Truth be told, 4.06 is probably the better option, though.
