Sigh, I have several lamps that are on mains plug in devices to turn them 
on/off with Alexa. I have one that i have had to reconnect to the network a 
couple of times but have been fortunate that so far everything works after a 
power failure. From what I have read there is a wide range of "quality" in both 
devices and software (skills) that is out there. I do notice there always seems 
to be improvement in things as we go along.
