If you have cellphone reception good enough for decent data transfer speeds, you can be adventurous and cobble yourself together an Allstar node. With that you can then use your HT on 2m or 70cm and speak to Hams all over the world from whereever you are. Some Allstar bridges also have bridges over to digital networks like DMR, DStar and YSF, opening up even more possibilities. There are loads you can do with your HT these days. Some people say that it's not "ham radio" to use the Internet like this, but hey - if it helps you to make contacts it's good enough in my books. nb> At any rate, I will check in now and again on this area to see what nb> going on. Unfortunately not a lot is happening here, but it's a good idea to post now and again to stir things up a bit. There are loads of really knowledgeable Hams monitoring this echo (myself excluded, I'm a noobie) with a breadth of experience, so even if it's mostly quiet it's good to ask questions. 73, Jan Henkins (M7HNK) Regards, Jan Henkins ___ MultiMail/Linux v0.52 --- Mystic BBS/QWK v1.12 A47 2021/12/24 (Linux/64) * Origin: UnderZaNet BBS (21:2/152) .
