It started on SyFy and lasted 3 seasons.  Like Dark Matter, they decided
to cut it.  There was a big fan outcry so Amazon Prime picked it up for 2
or 3 more seasons.

Apparently, SyFy's business model at the time was to create programs that
cost too much to make and then ultimately have to cancel them even if the
ratings were good (for a specialty cable channel), or to cut the costs
down to a point where the show (and ratings) suffered.

For the Expanse and Dark Matter, it was the former.
