Some additional thoughts:

Physical media playback equipment is less cost effective and difficult to 
service if that is ever needed

Youngest people have less experience with the full sensory aspects of physical 
media

Many people do not have much experience with extended connectivity or even 
digital access losses

People have become more accepting of management of their digital media by 
external sources

Few imagine themselves deliberately walking away from the digital media world
