They are one of the few popular, international bands from here. I like some of their music but don't have any of their records (shame on me). I guess a lot of modern music like tripop, goa etc. has its roots in the music Kraftwerk played. Maybe you remember Propaganda, another band from here that gained international attention for a short time. And of course there is the german punkband "Die Toten Hosen" who are also known througout europe and south america. All those bands started their (sometimes quite short) careers in Duesseldorf in the late 1970s, early 1980s. But unfortunately, there is no longer a vital "music scene" like there was in these days. There still are some bands, but today it's very expensive to find room for rehearsals and if you do, you will have to play in a lousy, rotten loft or something like that.
