I am a Voyager fan. They had the usual "creature of the week" but also had a
series long arc (it was a loose arc) of getting back home.

DS9 is my favorite. The first time that Star Trek got gritty and dark.
Tension, war, deaths and deception. Was a pretty big shock to see some of
those story lines after watching TNG.
