Subj : Baofeng UV-5R To : All From : MeaTLoTioN Date : Sun May 12 2019 07:20 pm Hey y'all, I just wanted to mention that I just bought myself a Baofeng UV-5R on Amazon for œ24.99 GBP. I haven't had any radio gear for over a decade and I thought about getting back into it after being out for so long. I did my foundation amateur radio license I think back in 2004/2005, and soon after purchased some great radio gear (which I no longer have); a Yaesu FT-840 and a Yaesu VX-7R. I used to use these daily, however after my first divorce all my radio gear became "lost" and I haven't since re-acquired any hardware... that is until now. I am excited to be getting my new radio, apparently it will arrive on Thursday, so fingers crossed I will be able to return to the air waves then. I will likely be using it to primarily connect to my local repeater, GB3EK located in Margate, Kent UK, and if it still has connectivity, is connected via EchoLink to other repeaters throughout the world. I really wanted to get myself a Yaesu VX-7R again, or something equally as good, but I figured even if it's quality is sub par and only gets a little use, it's no big loss because of how little I paid for it. I know that others on here are amateur radio enthusiasts, and wonder if anyone has any experience with this and whether there's software that I can run in Linux or Mac to set it up as apparently it comes with software that is ONLY compatible with Windoze. Thanks for your thoughts, maybe I can reach out to you via voice on it soon =) --- |14Best regards, |11Ch|03rist|11ia|15n |11a|03ka |11Me|03aTLoT|11io|15N |07ÄÄ |08[|10eml|08] |15ml@erb.pw |07ÄÄ |08[|10web|08] |15www.erb.pw |07ÄÄÄ¿ |07ÄÄ |08[|09fsx|08] |1521:1/158 |07ÄÄ |08[|11tqw|08] |151337:1/101 |07ÂÄÄÙ |07ÄÄ |08[|12rtn|08] |1580:774/81 |07Ä |08[|14fdn|08] |152:250/5 |07ÄÄÄÙ |07ÄÄ |08[|10ark|08] |1510:104/2 |07ÄÙ --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A43 2019/03/02 (Linux/64) * Origin: The Quantum Wormhole, Ramsgate, UK. bbs.erb.pw (1337:1/101) .
