Back then, I was doing a bit of distance for a number of reasons, and I worked my way up to a half marathon in 2006. After finishing that, I decided to run a marathon when I was 40, which was only 2 years later, and in 2008, I stuck to my word and ran the Melbourne marathon. I BP> think I'd have to have something very large chasing me. ;) I could, with the usual training, but I'm far better suited to shorter distances. And if I was chasing you, you wouldn't be running a marathon, I'd have you within the first 100 metres, unless you had a huge head start. :D I'd cover that first 100 metres in around 13 seconds. :) If I can sort out some issues with acceleration and tweak my top speed a litte, that time is going to go down significantly. And that's without increasing my fitness at all, it's all technical fixes to do that. :) I won bronze in the 100 and 200m at the Victorian Masters in March this year, and a month later, made the finals of the 60 and 200 metres at the Australian Masters. :) I'm guessing there's no takers for the Sysops sprint besides me? :D Oh, but there is a challenge I'm doing tomorrow that anyone could try - the Global Running Day virtual Mile. It's basically a race over a mile. Bit long for me, but a good challenge and quite suitable for my off season. :) And no, I'm nowhere near the 4 minute mile - last year I ran 6:41. However, the official GPS time was 6:31, but as I ran at the track, I know I ran and timed an exact mile. .... But if the handwriting on the wall is a forgery? --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.49 .
