They sure were!  When I was in my early 20's, I had a 71 Cadillac Sedan  
Deville.  4 doors, bile yellow, 472 ci, electric everything and climate  
control.  
Driving that was like cruising a yacht! 

Filling that tank on minimum wage... ??  Damn...

I sure don't miss that beast but it was awesome to drive to & from Sacramento  
when I lived in Marin.  Would just log in the cruise control and crank up the  
ZZ Top & Molly Hatchet.
