Maybe I'm re-living my youth, but I would much prefer buying an old classic to 
restore to save from the junk yard.  For the cost of new cars these days, I can 
buy 10-20 old cheap vehicles and end up having a ton of spares.

When I was young, I didn't have any spares which was the issue.  When my car 
had a problem, I had to work on it no matter what to get to work the next day. 
That could mean being out with a flashlight at night, laying in the snow, you 
name it.  That was not fun.

I should have always had multiple vehicles but I wasn't as into cars at the 
time.  I didn't have the time between work and women.  :)
